Comment on Colorado's Environmental Education Plan

With the passage HB10 1131, the Colorado Kids Outdoors Act the Colorado legislature directed the Colorado Department of Education and Department of Natural Resources to create a plan that will improve student’s knowledge of the environment and increase their opportunities for outdoor education experiences. The purpose of the Colorado Environmental Education Plan is to provide school districts and community groups with guidance and resources to help students develop the knowledge and skills they will need to make informed decisions on issues involving Colorado’s environment now and in the future.

As we move forward in developing an environmental literacy plan for Colorado- we need all our voices to ensure that we create the best plan for PreK-12 learners possible.  A plan that encompasses all types of environmental education whether indoors or out, urban or rural, and everything in between.

In February, the Colorado Department of Education and the Colorado Department of Natural Resources will be hosting a public feedback tour in five cities around the state!  Your voice can help shape the adoption and implementation of the plan.
