“Wildlife and Wild Times of Bobcat Ridge”

9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Lead by: Deborah Price, Natural Areas Educator, City of Fort Collins Natural Areas

Explore the rich human and natural history of Bobcat Ridge Natural Area on this all day exploratory hike. All types of wildlife live at Bobcat Ridge, captured on remote cameras each month. Learn how the camera project benefits students, how pioneer activities and Native American sites are tied into natural history field trips, and how wet spring seasons transform the habitat for certain animals. A great way to see ALL the connections! Demonstrate how human history can be tied into a natural history field trip. Explore ways that wildlife camera photos can be used in the classroom, and in natural areas. Practice observation skills in the outdoors. Leave with 2-3 new ideas about how to expand field trip knowledge. Leave with 1-2 ideas about how to connect with a research project in a natural area and get kids involved in that project. Transportation will be provided but you'll need to pack your own lunch!
