For a few years, CAEE has hosted conversations about diversity and inclusiveness in environmental education.  Then, this spring, the topic of the Environmental Education Advisory Council meeting was diversity and inclusiveness.  The council started vision statements for CAEE and environmental education, and agreed that one of the next steps would be for CAEE to convene a group to take the vision statements and create action steps. This first meeting will focus on creating a common understanding for the committee purpose, and setting the basic steps for where we want to go. CAEE has staff support for this committee in new Diversity Outreach Coordinator, Jen Grablander, who will start at the end of August.
